When I first picked this cabinet up it was in a very sorry state.
It had been fitted into a kitchen and instead of routing some pipes behind the unit,  they had decided to drill a hole in both sides and route it through the cupboard.
This was something that needed attention in the build process.  On one side I was able to use pallet wood that has been sanded and waxed using a cherry wax to hide the hideous hole leaving a fresh and clean appearance.
The hole on the opposite side had been drilled in a very strange position meaning covering it with pallet wood would not completely solve the issue. This meant it need a whole new side attaching.

After fixing the issues with the holes it was time to sand it back and paint it. Whilst sanding the doors and drawers it brought out its previous colours in a very bright and unique way that I just had to keep in the design. I’m extremely pleased I decided to follow this path as the finished result speaks for its self.

The top of the cabinet had an old and peeling vinyl top (I don’t like vinyl so that had to go). This has been replaced with scaffolding boards that have been sanded and waxed to match the side panel.

I really enjoy working on these vintage furniture pieces. Each build always surprises me with the finished result. With a lot of my builds I develop an image in my head of the finished result. With these builds it always turns out better then imagined.
