I hadn’t built anything using suitcases in a little while so I thought it would be a nice change to get creative with some vintage cases I had previously bought.
Having already building a set of bedside tables and chest of drawers, I thought I would continue with the bedroom style design and build a dresser table.
I first found a pair of suitcases that were almost identical in size to use for this build.
The next step was to draw out the design with measurements to see if I had the correct amount of steel already in stock.

After measuring and sorting I decided to use 40×40 box section.  This metal had been briefly left out in the rain while wrapped in plastic although some of the water had leaked through leaving small spots of surface rust. I managed to eliminate this by sanding the metal back. The finished look gave a great contrast of light and dark metal that worked out great with the colours of the suitcases.
Starting work on the top of the dresser I used scaffolding boards that I had sanded and treated with in cherry wax. I decided that it would make a great dresser if it attach a mirror. I managed to find a metal mirror with a little shelf included. After a little paint its definitely something that stands out and finishes off the build.
